Our Journey

Meet the visionary duo, Wandile and Jessica Jane Molebatsi, the creative force behind the acclaimed Molebatsi fashion house. United by a shared passion for love and unity, they harness the transformative power of fashion to promote social cohesion and foster understanding among diverse communities.

Hailing from rich cultural backgrounds—Wandile as a proud Tswana/Xhosa South African and Jessica with her French, Scottish, Norwegian, and British heritage—their unique experiences have deepened their commitment to advocating for a more inclusive society. They believe that individuals should not be defined solely by their appearances but rather celebrated as spiritual beings in need of connection and compassion.

Molebatsi: “United Through Love”

United Through Love

Jessica Jane Molebatsi laid the foundation for her brand, JessicaJane, in 2011, focusing on the true feminine essence of women. Her journey into fashion began at the tender age of seven, learning the art of sewing from her grandmother, a talented dressmaker. With a BA in Fashion Design, she set out to create garments that transcend vanity and status, using her platform to convey messages of empowerment and purpose.

Being in an interracial marriage has opened Jessica’s eyes to the urgency for a more equitable society—one that embraces understanding and diminishes prejudice surrounding race and culture. As a cultural activist, she expresses her insights and raises critical questions about these themes through historic representations of colonialism, cultural diffusion, and globalization, as well as through her visual art, including stills and short films.

These powerful ideas seamlessly weave into her fashion creations. Together with Wandile, they birthed the fashion label Molebatsi by JessicaJane, where each piece not only reflects beauty but also embodies their vision for social change.

Cultural Activism — A Vision for Change

Cultural activism is a potent form of creative expression that challenges prevailing interpretations of the world, offering alternative socio-political perspectives that reshape the relationships between art, politics, and community engagement. For Jessica, cultural activism means taking control of how our narratives, values, beliefs, and art are created and shared. Through her work, she seeks to question dominant viewpoints and illuminate new ways of understanding our diverse world.

Join us on this meaningful journey with Molebatsi, where fashion tells stories, inspires connections, and champions unity through love!
